A Fresh Start part 1

{OK so I know this is a little late.... it's January 13th and I kinda missed the New Years bandwagon but better late than never.}

I love fresh starts. God is so gracious to us and gives us so many opportunities to start anew.

A new morning
A new week
A new month
A new season
A new year

I always look forward to the New Year and making my list of things I want to start doing, or stop doing, or do better, or whatever. I don't always stick to them but I am not really one to beat myself up about it either. There's always tomorrow, right?
I was bored and decided to revamp my boring list into something more
eye pleasing and also working on my Photoshop skills {or lack thereof}  I added words and sayings along with my goals to give a direction I hope my days will take.

I want to read more. I want to serve more. I want to memorize scripture. I want to pray more. Cook more. Exercise more. Laugh more.

My hubby had the week after Christmas off and in addition to having some fun time as a family I worked around the house like a crazy woman- I cleaned, organized, and de-cluttered every drawer, cupboard, and closet in our house. Josh tackled some long over-do projects around the house including making a ridiculously large mountain of paperwork disappear and when I say mountain I am not exaggerating.... we have never been good with paperwork, filing, sorting, etc. and about 3 moves ago we had our filing cabinet break on us mid move and all the papers ended up in a cardboard box and stayed that way until a week ago.... yeah... and what happened to all the papers since then you ask?... yeah.... we had a few more boxes, paper bags, and even a plastic baby bath tub full in our spare room. I am not proud of this but thanks to the hubs it's gone! {oh how I despise papers!} After all our effort I started off the New Year in a good place as far as our home is concerned.

Tomorrow I will post about some specific tools I have been utilizing to help with the day to day.

  1. I love a fresh start as well. I think it's easy to try to muster up the strength to do more and do everything better, instead of relying on Christ for our ultimate strength. Whenever I make lists the root of every goal is to rely more on Him, it's crazy! Anyways I'm working through these questions (from Donald Whitney) thought I'd pass em' along:

    1. What’s one thing you could do this year to increase your enjoyment of God?
    2. What’s the most humanly impossible thing you will ask God to do this year?
    3. What’s the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your family life this year?
    4. In which spiritual discipline do you most want to make progress this year, and what will you do about it?
    5. What is the single biggest time-waster in your life, and what will you do about it this year?
    6. What is the most helpful new way you could strengthen your church?
    7. For whose salvation will you pray most fervently this year?
    8. What’s the most important way you will, by God’s grace, try to make this year different from last year?
    9. What one thing could you do to improve your prayer life this year?
    10. What single thing that you plan to do this year will matter most in ten years? In eternity?
